Deck: The seats on the deck of the ship as well as the seats near the bars/cafes are at the disposal of every passenger. As they are not distinguished by number, these are first-come, first-serve.

It is not a ferry, it is a large cruise ship catering for until 2400 passengers. Lots of sun deck space and cafees. In my view economy is more entertaining than business class. An air-seat may be nice as a retreat if you gets sleepy, especially if you go by the late arriving 17:30 departure.
A couple of weeks back I was on that ferry though getting on at Koufonissi and the ferry was barely 20% full, absolutely no point at all in a reserved seat in Sept, the whole population of Astypalaea where the ferry comes from could get on the ship with seats to spare.cheapest economy fare is fine. The deck seats at least on the BlueStar
There are 5 ferry companies operating on the Athens - Mykonos ferry route: Minoan Lines: it operates on Athens - Mykonos crossings from June to September with high-speed vessels. 2. Flying Cat IV (catamaran-passenger only) from Hellenic Seaways (takes about 1.5 hours with 1 stop) 3. Blue Star Delos (car passenger ferry) from Blue Star Ferries (takes 2 hours with 0 stops) My concerns are (1) avoiding seasickness/smoother ride and (2) reliability. I don't really care about the time it takes to get there.
Ferry tickets from Athens to Crete cost €30 to €120, depending on the ferry line and class of ticket. Departure Port in Athens. Ferries to Crete depart primarily from the port of Piraeus, located approximately 10 kilometers southwest of central Athens. The port is easily accessible via public transportation, including the Athens Metro Line
Luggage doesn't make a difference. If you have the choice between 'deck' and 'air seats' it means you are looking at a conventional ferry not a 'faster' ferry. For luggage there is a designated place on the cardeck for every port. For a short trip like this, a 'deck' (or Economy) ticket is sufficient. Report inappropriate content.
